چکیده

This paper proposes a novel way that allows users to create pervasive computing environments without experts. In this way, nonsmart components which form everyday objects such as furniture and appliances commonly found in homes and offices are made smart in advance, not in the way to convert non-smart objects to smart ones by attaching computers, sensors, and devices. As our first prototype to realize this method, we have developed u-Texture, a self-organizable universal board that enables to change its own behavior autonomously through recognition of its location, its inclination, and surrounding environment by assembling them physically.

Self-Organizable P2P Document Search Engine for Knowledge Management

Locating contents is an essential function, but it presents a very diÆcult and challenging problem for large-scale Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems. Many P2P systems, protocols, architectures, and search strategies are proposed for this problem. In this paper, we focus on the selforganization of a community structure based on user preferences for P2P systems. We propose these methods to improve P2P s...

Universal Adaptor: A Novel Approach to Supporting Multi-protocol Service Discovery in Pervasive Computing

Service discovery is an important and challenging issue in pervasive computing. To date, many service discovery protocols have been proposed and new ones are under development. However, pervasive computing involves applications running in heterogeneous environments and application developers must cope with diversity of network infrastructures, middleware platforms, and hardware devices. There i...

BIONETS: BIO-inspired NExt generaTion networkS

The amount of information in the new emerging all-embracing pervasive environments will be enormous. Current Internet protocol conceived almost forty years ago, were never planned for these emerging pervasive environments. The communications requirements placed by these protocols on the low cost sensor and tag nodes are in direct contradiction to the fundamental goals if these nodes, being smal...
